History

Tripoli’s history dates back as far the 14th century BCE. Tripoli is well known for containing the largest crusaders fortress in Lebanon, the citadel of Raymond de Saint-Gilles, and it has been the second highest concentration.

Population

Tripoli as a city has a majority of Sunni Muslims and Lebanon Sunni alwaite community is concentrated jabal Mohsen neighbourhood, while the Christian constitutes about 5% of the population of the city.

Climate 

The city has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate with mild winters and very dry, hot summers. Temperature in Tripoli is moderate throughout the year due the warm Mediterranean current coming western Europe. Therefore, the temperatures are warmer in the winter by around 10 °C (18 °F) and cooler in the summer by around 7 °C (13 °F) compared to the interior of Lebanon. Rainfall is concentrated in the winter months, with the summer typically being very dry. 

Economy 

Over the recent decades, Tripoli’s economy has experienced decline, organisations such as the Business Incubation Association in Tripoli (BIAT) are currently putting in much efforts to revive the traditional businesses of furniture production, artisanal copper good, soaps as well expanding the new industries like ICT.

Several developments have been introduced and supported by a number of advisory councils, influential key governmental officials and prominent businessmen in the city. The goal was to promote comprehensive framework consisting of promoting businesses and investment, investing, training and re-skilling, talent placement and out promotion to reinvigorate the city’s economy.
